Over the years, we’ve developed a doctrine that separates TPC from others and places us in the top caliber of shooting training.

We teach you principles that apply no matter what you are doing; there is no cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all training here. We custom-make your system to fit your personality, build and existing skills. Insert your choice of gun, and we’ll teach you to master it. We teach fundamentals like visual patience, trigger control, skeletal alignment and more.

Our doctrine offers an answer for the weakest shooter with tiny hands and no upper body strength.

Our doctrine is derived from a multidisciplinary, scientific approach, but we help translate and tailor it specifically to you. As the creators and curators of this doctrine, we make this science a reality with our ability to assess each student, correctly analyze and diagnose problems, help students uniquely learn and develop faster — all while avoiding the pitfalls of one-size-fits-all, recipe-based teaching methods.

Reactive Shooting Science

The Reactive Shooting Science™ program was developed by Ron Avery, co-founder and TPC director of training, years back using multidisciplinary principles, unique training methodology and successfully proven scientific concepts.

We have pioneered and systematized many reactive shooting training concepts over the years, and continue to improve the program to ensure the highest quality of training.

We use the science of human performance, peak performer mental skills and proven high performance physical and technical skills to build your performance under pressure.

Our doctrine focuses on principles of:

  • Stance: Stability, Mobility, Recoil, Skeletal Alignment, Relaxation, etc.
  • Grip: Aim, Muzzle, Sight Alignment, Leverage, Friction, Biomechanical Efficiency, etc.
  • Trigger Control: Firing, Isolating Movement, Isolating Direction, etc.

A unique part of the program lies in our capability to assess each student, correctly analyze and diagnose problems, determine the correct level and type of remediation for each student and help them learn and grow faster while avoiding the pitfalls of other recipe based teaching methods where one size fits all.

For instructors, we offer far more detailed information and teaching materials to prepare them to teach in-depth training programs.

For our students going into harm’s way, we equip you with arguably the best techniques, tactics and procedures available to bring your reactive shooting skills up to the highest standards.

We have and continue to train everyone from world champion shooters and elite special operations personnel down to beginner and intermediate level shooters. We have worked with many different agencies and military units as well as individual soldiers, police officer and instructors.

This program is also unique in that the doctrine allows for adaptation into almost any existing program or as a stand-alone course of instruction. This allows you to integrate it into your shooting skills program. We have worked with many agencies and military units to do just that and it has been very successful.

"The Tactical Performance Center has an excellent approach to shooting and teaching. At the start of the first day, my team and I were given three course objectives from the instructors—To make great shooters, shooters that know how to continually improve, and shooters that can improve others. Those objectives were met! My team and I saw major improvements in all aspects of marksmanship and learned additional tools to improve our internal team training. I highly recommend this training to anyone or group that wants to take their shooting to a higher level of performance."

"The instructors at The Tactical Performance Center went above and beyond to develop a custom course for our team. They took the time to discuss our goals and expectations and in turn developed a highly-specified course to meet our goals. The level of knowledge demonstrated by the TPC instructors is second to none over what we have experienced at any other team training event. Our team members benefited greatly from the course, regardless of prior skill level due to the principle-based approach of the TPC instructors.

“Before starting each day of training the instructors covered the topics from the previous day and at the end of each day the instructors conducted a hot wash to make sure we were on course to meet our objectives and to make certain the principles covered were understood by all the course participants.

“I would highly recommend The Tactical Performance Center for anyone interested in increasing their gun handling skills. The level of detail in the instruction was excellent and the live fire drills are designed very specifically to engrain the concepts and skills that the instructors emphasize."
